ChatGPT has facts about my business wrong. What fixes it?

You cannot edit a ChatGPT answer. You can change what it reads: the directory or review page it quoted, and your own site. Answers made with search on pick up a page change within days. Answers made from training data change only with the next model.

Measured · Published

A wrong price, a closed branch that is still "open", a service you stopped offering two years ago. There is no form at OpenAI to correct any of it, so the work is finding the page the answer came from.

Find the source

Ask the question again in a fresh session and look at the citation. In our local checks on 2026-10-21, ChatGPT took ratings, review counts and descriptions straight from Healthgrades, Zocdoc, Checkatrade and Clutch. If the answer quotes a number, it almost always came from a page like that, and the fix is on that page: your directory profile, your review platform listing, or an old page on your own site that still ranks.

If the answer cites nothing, the fact came from training data. Nothing you publish today changes what the current model remembers. What you can do is publish the correct fact where search will find it, so that when ChatGPT does search, the live page wins.

Fix the page, then wait

OpenAI's crawler page says its search crawler, OAI-SearchBot, takes about a day to reflect a change to robots.txt, and gives no promise for content changes. Our experience with other search engines is days rather than hours. Put the corrected fact on a page with a visible date, keep the page title plain, and check again after a week.

Keep one page of facts

Most wrong answers trace to the same cause: the facts about your business live in six places and three of them are stale. One page on your own site with the current name, address, hours, services and prices gives every assistant a source to prefer, and gives you one place to update. Seen42 builds that page from your own facts; the answer pages feature explains how.
